My Favorite Hitler Youth (Director's Cut)

Very interesting documentary
This is a brief candid interview with a man that had a very interesting history, going from a bullied Hitler youth in Germany to an engineer in the US who designed one of the first portable hard drives. He talks frankly about his failure to fit into the athletic ideal Hitler youth paradigm and about his unfulfilled relationship with his father. It seems that this man's past could make for a captivating memoir, and I'm not sure that the breadth of his unique experiences was entirely captured in this short film. Nonetheless, it is quite thought-provoking.

An amateur film with a great story.
This film was definitely made buy an amateur. It's basically just a guy holding a camera while interviewing another guy with some video of Hitler Youth added throughout. It's also very short. Still, it was interesting to hear Fred Curtis' journey from Hitler Youth to American soldier. If you're really into WWII movies, it's worth a watch.

NOTE: It's only $1 more to buy than to watch. Take that into consideration if you like to keep a collection of WWII/documentary movies.

Hitler Youth to American Soldier
In 1930s Germany, Friedrich Karl Nischwitz was a student at a military school for the Hitler Youth. After 4 years of beatings and humiliation by his classmates and elders, Fred finally escaped to the USA. Friedrich Karl Nischwitz became Fred Curtis, a US citizen, who fought against the Nazis during World War II. After the war, Fred embarked on his greatest achievement, to become one of the founding fathers of the modern day computer hard drive. This is Fred's story. Documentary film.
