California Indian
IT was great to see some of my favorite native actors but the story line was weak . IF you want to see movies about contemporary native life there are much better films.
Gil Birmingham
This low budget movie was just that....low budget, however it told the story of how the white man continues to try and over turn the Native People's land (please STOP!) The best aspect of the move was Mr. Gil Birmingham, his acting was believable and he is always a joy to watch (call me bias, because I am). I would watch him read the phone book.
Different than what I thought
Even though I was aware of the circumstances/story of why this movie was produced - I expected it to be different. While I realize it is an independent film, I wasn't happy with the quality of the film. It reminded me of when I stream a movie on Netflix before movies were shot in HD. I watched it on my laptop so it wasn't like the screen was far from me, but the movie seemed blurry/out-of-focus at times.
The film had a documentary feel to it; though more could have been done to better explain the characters' backgrounds. There were times I felt lost.
The biggest reason why I bought this and watched it was for Julia Jones. She's become a favorite actress of mine and so I've been scouring to find any films in which she has a role in. This definitely wasn't my favorite film with her in it. The dialogue/acting felt very scripted and unnatural at times. And I know this isn't the norm for her as I've seen her in several films.
