Warmhearted Gem Shines With Honesty
This is an honest and well crafted film. Worth, as writer, director and actor brings a sensitivity that is mature while keeping a light romantic tone. The actors have a chemistry reminiscent of the independent films of the nineteen-seventies. John Saxon and Tim Thomerson show what their long-time fans have always known: these two are exceptional actors. Saxon's passion and humanity and Thomerson's warmhearted performance complement Worth's and Farley's clear and true characterizations.
Rocky, Autism, and Stripping?
This warm and endearing character study, provides a journey about dealing with one's struggles, discovering friendship and perhaps love where not expected, and finding what matters in life. Directed, starred, and written by a very talented Michael Worth, it is a low budget, but well shot and acted film with a message.
An autistic man, Noah(Worth), who cleans up a boxing gym, works hard to manage his condition. He is not stupid or "retarded" as he is often perceived, but receives and deals with the often hostile outside enviroment in a different manner than most people. He dreams of one day boxing, but the movie is not about boxing.
Enter Alexia(Farley), an exotic dancer, depressed and sick of her lifestyle. She meets Noah by chance, and fascinated by him, follows him to learn what he's about. They share an equal curiosity with each other. The question is: will it be more than just interest? More than just friendship? Or will their incongruous worlds...
A snapshot of life
This film is a perfect example of what is so great about independent films. Relatively unknown actors alongside industry icons serving an emotional and intelligent story. "God's Ears" is simply, purely, unashamedly a slice of life. We are viewing a captured moment in time. We are watching these people at this particular moment in their lives. They have lived full lives prior to this moment, and they will continue to live on after we say farewell to them. But for right now, we are sharing in this snapshot of life. Honest, imperfect, heartfelt life. And that's what makes it a joy to watch.
