Midnight Chronicles

Well done
I'm not a gamer but, I've read fantasy and science fiction since around 1968. I'm still a fan of the genres. This type of plot and scenario is apparently difficult to put into a movie since there are so few that do an even decent job of laying out this type of story on film. This movie had mostly very good props and the camera work was good. The acting was, while not excellent, still quite good. The story line was entertaining. While it's not in the same league as "Lord of the Rings", or "Harry Potter" it was still very enjoyable. I wouldn't recommend it to a non fan of fantasy and science fiction but, I would recommend it to a fan. Not a movie I would collect but, I enjoyed my one viewing.

COULD WE HAVE ONE QUEST THAT ENDS IN PLEASURE?
The film gives you a quick background into the good vs. evil aspect then thrusts you into a story where it takes you a while to figure out the good guys from the bad guys. It copies some of the LOTR aspects in that it includes orcs (bad), elves (good) and humans on both sides. Priests who serve the Shadow are called "legates" with Charles Hubbell playing the lead role of questioning loyalty.

There is a prophecy which The Shadow fears, that is where a group of diverse characters lead by one man on a quest will overthrow him and rule Middle Earth er uh.. Baldur's Gate, no wait the world of Aryth. The one legate side kick had a sense of humor and was the only worthwhile character in the group.

The dialouge was otherwise dull and dry: "He has help me hide what must remain hidden." Or "In the shadow of the shadow he shall dance with the beast..." There is one scene with the side kick and Chuzara where we get to see the microphone overhead. The elves use bows (how did...

Midnight Chronicles - A Labor of Love Effort
After seeing a trailer on youtube, I instantly bought this. Being an avid fantasy genre fan, I thought this was right up my alley. "Midnight Chronicles" is an independent fantasy film based on Fantasy Flight Game's rpg game named "Midnight". It was originally planned to be a pilot for a tv show, however, it was never picked up by a network (though I think Syfy Channel would have been the perfect place for it). So Fantasy Flight released it as one movie, after about 4 years after it was made, on dvd.

The premise of the backstory is something that's pretty rare in fantasy. Long ago, when the good guys were fighting the bad, the evil overlord Izrador actually won the war, becoming ruler of the land. So the setting and atmosphere is fantasy dystopian. The bad guys govern the land, and magic and elves are outlawed, the only magic users allowed are legate priests. So the plot centers around one the legates, Mag, who has been sent to the town of Blackwier, to investigate the...
